The registry is a non-profit organization, and it's
purpose is"...to preserve some of the last remnants of
the finer and better authenticated animals, and from
these to perpetuate the mustangs for posterity."
The charter provided for the continued purity or blood
in a resolution, which states,

"If at any time in the future of the registry, any or all of
the directors of the registry attempt to improve or in any
way change the genotypes of the registered Mustangs
by hybridization with any other breed, or breeds, or
horses or hybrids thereof, then the registry and it's
name should become null, void and defunct."
One thing is for certain, Bob Brislawn believes every
registered Spanish Mustang to be of pure blood. The
peppery little  horseman has no patience with registries
which attempt to hide the presence of outside blood in
their horses...or actually invite it's use. As he says, " We
are trying to restore a breed, not create one, like some
of the other registries. Blood is what we are after.
