Tinker is sort of the Arrow Rock mascot. She was never part of the broodmare band but
Paul Rasberry called last year to ask if I wanted to breed her to his little jack. The jack,
Toby, had never been bred & he wanted a smaller mare to try him for the first time.
had settled when he brought his stallion, Blue Duck back to the pasture & moved Toby.
We waited for what seemed like an eternity for Tinker's "mule" to get here!...& then
she dissapeared three days ago! With rain every day for fouteen days, we couldn't drive
out to look for her. It was just too muddy...& the creek was up.

The horses still weren't back as of this morning so I went on a walkabout. I made a big
loop, heading east, crossing the creek...mid calf deep. I got to the south pasture but NO
horses! There were very fresh tracks so I followed them...heading west...crossed the
creek , in a different spot, & headed north....NO horses! I went back to the house for
binoculars, the truck & headed for the main road, turning back north, came up over a
hill & there they were. I could see, right away, that Tinker had foaled because there was
a bright white spot with her. I looked through the binoculars & started
laughing....Remember...this foal was supposed to be a mule!
