White Cloud

White Cloud's dam, Kiamichi Susie, was co-owned by Gilbert & Tom Foster. While she was in foal with White Cloud, she was acquired by Boyd Carter Boyd Carter owned White Cloud for quite a while. He rode her everywhere. Later Bryant Rickman owned her. He told me that at one time, she was running with Coyote II's band. Bryant had been looking for them for a few weeks. When he finally found them, he saw White Cloud standing alone, under a tall crag tree. In the top of the tree was a mature Bald Eagle. At that time, there were only 27 Bald Eagles in a preserve around Lake Hugo. None had been seen up on the mountain before that day. A few months later, Bryant went looking for that band again. He found them & saw White Cloud, again under an old tree. At the top of the tree, just like before, there was a Bald Eagle, perched above her. That time, though, it was an immature bird.
Bob M acquired White Cloud from Bryant. He took her to his place, west of Skiatook, Oklahoma, where she promptly escaped. She was trying to find HER mountains. They were NOT in the Osage ! Bob spread the word of the escapee. Calls of sightings started coming in of the mare. One caller said that he watched the mare go over a bridge, down the hill to the bank of Skiatook Lake. It was at Bull Creek Peninsula, about 10 miles from Bob. She went into the lake, swam across the peninsula in 50 ft of water, about the length of a football field......and back again. Nope....No mountains there. She traveled 10 or 15 more miles to Birch Creek at Barnsdall where she was finally caught. Bob had to keep her penned until he sold her. She's only bonded with two people, that I know of.... Gina & me. She's home now. August 29, 2007 We live 5 miles..as the crow flies...from the Arkansas River.Twice in 18 years, we've had a bald eagle land in front of the house. Today we lost White Cloud. I just returned from checking the herd & as I drove up the drive to the house, I saw, circling above my head, a mature bald eagle. It was like he had come to escort White Cloud home.

I only have a few pictures of White Cloud's many foals . I posted them below. I'll add more if I get them.
